GCSE Astronomy - one year course

Wednesday evenings at Waldegrave School from 6.30-9 pm.

FREE Taster Evening Wednesday 22 June from 7-8.30 pm at Waldegrave.

This highly successful one year course, which is in its seventh year at Waldegrave School, uses course materials developed at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. The course was offered to students in Year 9 and other interested adults in the local area. The course tutor, Dr Alan Longstaff, who lectures and writes widely on astronomy is an Associate Lecturer in Planetary Science at the Open University and Tutor in Astronomy at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

£150 - Students under 16 on 1 September 2011 - Under 16 Application Form

Science College

Waldegrave has been a Specialist Science College since 2004.

The extra funding has allowed us to

• build a new ICT suite to enhance learning across all subjects

• offer a wider range of courses in Science and Mathematics

• provide more clubs and enrichment activities related to science and Mathematics

• improve our links with post-16 providers

• build stronger links with the local community including primary schools and local businesses.

We do not select our students on scientific aptitude or ability and we continue to offer a broad and balanced curriculum
