Maths is GREAT !

Question :
What’s so good about learning maths ?

Pick an answer:
1. A  maths GCSE will help you get a job
2. A  maths GCSE proves you are brainy
3. Maths is FUN to learn

At Waldegrave we want the girls to the pick the third answer. We have a team of hardworking and dedicated teachers. All of the teachers love maths and we help the girls to love it too.

Year 7, 8 and 9
To help the girls get the attention they deserve, we set them by maths ability early in Year 7. For this we use information from primary schools as well as a short test of our own. We use a wide range of practical and ICT resources to engage their young minds and set them thinking. All the girls have a lovely text book to take home and share their new skills with their families.

During KS3 the real enthusiasts have a chance to take part in the National maths challenge and the Borough maths challenge as well as other clubs and competitions. There is also a Maths Club in Year 7 to support girls who need to develop their maths skills.

Girls remain in sets throughout the school and we aim to ensure that each girls is challenged yet able to achieve and feel confident. They have assessments every half term so that we can keep a close eye on how they are progressing. Parents can monitor too as the girls have a record sheet in their planners.
