Year 7
Our aim is to make the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 as enjoyable and as easy as possible. We study a wide variety of topics including poetry, short story writing, Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew' , fiction: 'Holes' or 'Skellig' , media .

Year 8
Our aim in Year 8 is to develop the skills learnt in Year 7. Students partake in a variety of exercises and activities incorporating drama and art. Here are some of the topics studied:
  • Author study: Charles Dickens
  • The Island Project
  • Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night'
  • Fiction: 'The Edge' or 'Tulip Touch'
  • Ballads
  • Media
Year 9
Our aim in Year 9 is to explore a range of literature, including fiction and non-fiction. Here are some of the topics studied:
  • Travel Writing
  • Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'
  • Media
  • Speech Making
  • Fiction: 'Stone Cold' or 'Remembrance'
  • Detective Writing

Year 10 and Year 11

Our aim in Years 10 and 11 is to prepare students for their English and English Literature examinations. All coursework is taught in Year 10 and all exam preparation in Year 11.
