Design & Technology
Design & Technology is about designing and making things, understanding how things work and how they are made. At Waldegrave we have a strong team of specialist teachers who work in four different areas:
- Food
- Textiles
- Product Design
- Graphic Products

Key Stage 3
All girls study D&T as follows:
Year 7 - All students study Product Design / Graphics for one lesson per week and Food / Textiles for one lesson per week. Students will cover the following topics:
- Laser cut file divider
- Maze puzzle project
- Understanding Materials Health and Safety
- Design & make a small bago
- Planning and preparing healthy meals
Year 8 - All students study Product Design / Graphics one lesson per week for half the year and Food / Textiles for the other half of the year
- Exploring Materials
- Cam Toy (Laser cut figure)
- Using control for security
- Personal light source key ring
- Design and make a cushion
- Planning and preparing healthy meals
Year 9 All students study Product Design / Graphics one lesson per week for half the year and Food / Textiles for the other half.
- Designing for markets
- Ethical and environmental issues
- Planning and preparing healthy meals
Key Stage 4
In KS4 Design & Technology is an optional GCSE. Students can choose from the following:
- GCSE AQA Design & Technology: Graphic Products
- GCSE AQA Design & Technology: Product Design
- GCSE AQA Design & Technology: Textiles Technology
- GCSE AQA Design & Technology: Food Technology
